Born and raised in a small country town in Victoria, Australia, I’ve spent the past seven years living with my beautiful wife, Maria, on the sunny south coast of Spain, and the slightly less-sunny south coast of the UK, which is where we now call home.
I am utterly fascinated by people from all walks of life, from the young guy at the checkout when I go to the supermarket, to the 98-year-old grandma who’s got more stories to tell and wisdom to share than I could ever dream of having.
My passion for photography comes from a love of genuine, unscripted moments, from an appreciation for truly spectacular landscapes, and from the opportunity that being a photographer gives me to meet new people whose backgrounds, stories and cultures are so different to my own.
In the world of wedding photography, my style is generally what’s referred to as ‘documentary’, ‘reportage’ or ‘photojournalism’. Whichever term you choose to use, the principle is, essentially, “we-want-you-to-get-some-amazing-photos-but-we’d-like-you-to-do-it-while-we’re-not-really-looking.”
My approach to photographing your wedding is to capture the ‘feel’ of your day, exactly as you experience it. I tend to move around, a lot. I do this because I’m constantly anticipating what’s going to happen next, making sure that I’m in exactly the right position at exactly the right time in order to capture every candid, emotional and hilarious moment throughout the day. That way, when you look back at your photos one year, five years or fifty years from now, you’ll be transported back to each magical moment as if it were only yesterday.
By telling the story of your wedding through a beautiful collection of images, I aim to make the memories of your day last a lifetime and beyond.
Along with the documentary style that I employ throughout the majority of your wedding day, I also like to steal a little time between the festivities to create some spectacular portraits and fine art images for you to treasure forever. These creative and artistic photos often include breathtaking landscapes, dramatic lighting and beautiful, genuine moments that you share with your new husband or wife on the first day of the rest of your lives together.
