Arundel Town Hall and Burpham Village Hall Wedding | Charlie and Sarah
The first time I met Charlie and Sarah was almost a year before their wedding. We went out for breakfast to have a chat about the plans for their big day and within minutes of sitting down, it felt like we’d known each other for years. Over some bacon, pancakes and maple syrup (a f*cking delicious combo, by the way!), they told me a bit about themselves and how they hoped their wedding day would be. They were relaxed, excited, happy, funny and completely, madly in love. “This wedding’s going to be a good’un,” I remember thinking…
Fast-forward to the following summer and a good’un it was, indeed.
The girls spent the morning getting ready just metres from each other, separated by no more than a shared wall in their hotel rooms. They laughed, joked, cracked bottles of bubbly and generally just got the wedding day vibe off to exactly the right start. It wasn’t until the ceremony started at Arundel Town Hall around mid-afternoon that the raw emotion of the day really kicked in. From the moment that Charlie saw Sarah walking down the aisle towards her, it was tears all around for the next half-hour.
Cocktail hour on the balcony was bathed in sunshine as guests soaked in the best of what the English summer could throw at them. An old-school London double-decker bus transported everyone from the Town Hall to the grounds of Burpham Village Hall, where Charlie and Sarah had worked tirelessly to create the type of rustic, handmade, do-it-yourself wedding wonderland that we all wish that we could pull off.
The cool, laid-back atmosphere of the late afternoon only got cooler and more laid-back with the arrival of the wood-fired pizza team and a vintage ice-cream van, while the outdoor games featured hard-fought battles on the beer pong table, the rounders field and the giant connect four board. Once the sun went down, the big-top marquee was the place to be as Charlie and Sarah danced into the rest of their lives together, surrounded by their seriously awesome bunch of family and friends.
Charlie and Sarah, thank you so much for inviting me into your close-knit circle on such an intimate occasion and for trusting me to tell the story of your beautiful wedding day through these images. I bloody love you guys!
